After Shrek and Fiona setal in and have children Shrek gets fed up and fantasies about when he felt like a real ogre. When Shrek was going on a walk to clear his head he ran into Rumpelstiltskin who took advantage of Shrek thoughts and through deception made a deal with Shrek that he never met Fiona and had kids. This magic puts them is a new timeline that Rumpelstiltskin takes over far far wavy because Fiona was never rescued and Shrek realized how alone he is. Then he wants to set everything back to how it was.

Once upon a time there was an ogre named Shrek who lived happily until his home was invaded by anying magic creatures who were banished from the kingdom by Lord Farquaad(The protagonist). So Shrek confronts Lord Farquaad about the creatures and strikes a deal with him. The deal with Lord Farquaad and Shrek to save a princess from her heavily guarded castle and bring her to Lord Farquaad.
