Synopsis:

The Berenstain bear family loved to

garden. One day when they were out tending to their fruits and vegetables and flower garden, papa bear suggested that the kids build their own garden. The kids loved the idea of having their own garden and flower bed, so they got to marking off the area that they wanted to be their garden area. Then Mama and papa bear took them to go buy seeds for their very own garden.After getting their seeds, the family went home and the cubs began to plant their seeds.

Sister and Brother bear took their time planting each seed, while Honey bear just threw the seeds anywhere. After planting the seeds and watering them, the kids went inside. The next day Sister and Brother went to go and check on their plants, but nothing had grown. The did the same thing the next day but nothing had grown yet, they continued to do this everyday and grew impatient because nothing had grown yet.They went to ask Mama and Papa why it was taking so long for their plants to grow, when Mama told them, " Have faith that what you have planted will grow in god's good time", quoting the bible. The next day, the family went out to check their plants and seen that they had started to sprout. They were really excited to see them finally start to grow. Then they looked over to Honey's flowers and seen that they had fully grown and were beautiful. Papa tells Honey that her patience had been rewarded.

I think this is a good story for kids to read. It gives a lesson about patience, something kids need to learn about, in a clear way that even younger children can understand. It also hints at religion and the bible. So, overall, I think it is a pretty good book.

Summary

Synopsis:

It was a summer morning and the bear family was going on a picnic. The entire family was walking down the road to find a place to set up when Brother and sister ran ahead of every one else. Mama bear told them to wait for everyone else, but they didn't listen. They reached the picnics spots when Papa suggested they sit at a table he used to sit at when he was a kid, to which the kids declined and said that was really long ago. Mama then suggests they set up by the pond where she and papa went on their first date, which the kids replied with a snarky comment.

Gran then suggested they go up the hill to have a picnic, to which Mama told her no one wants to climb all the way up there. Gramps was going to suggest a place when Papa cut him off saying they didn't need help finding a spot. Gramps stops and tells them that they are being disrespectful to their elders. Brother and Sister were being rude to Mama and Papa; and Mama and Papa were being rude to Gramps and Gran. They realize Gran and Gramps were right right and apologized; Brother and Sister to Mama and Papa, and Mama and Papa to Gran and Gramps. After that Gran and Gramps say they know where they can have a picnic and they all follow them and end up at Gramps' house where they had their picnic.

Rating/Review

I think this is a good story for kids to read. It gives a lesson about respect. Respect is something that everyone needs to have for one another, and this book teaches the importance of it well, but maybe could have been explained more.
