At the beginning of the film
Beginning
At the beginning of the film Eva was very reserved and didn’t want anything to do with her new english teacher. She didn’t respect her or trust her and she felt that she had no power over her there for she refused to do what she was asked. Life was hard for Eva her innocent father sent to jail, her neighbourhood was ruff, she has been living the gang life for years.

In court Eva had to make a very hard desision, send an innocent person and risk getting abandoned by her people or lie so she could protect her people. Eva seen that accused had a family just like her and her father went to prison for nothing she didn’t want to be that person, she knew what was right and what was wrong.
How Eva Changed

Throughout the film Eva’s values changed, what she believed in changed, because before her whole life was all about the gang life and her people. Now to her that wasn’t the only important thing in her life, she had a safe place in the classroom with Ms G. She felt comfortable the classroom was like her second home with a whole other family, being in a good encouraging environment made her a better person.
