Towering high in the sky at over 6000m the highest summits are snow-covered all year round because of the icy conditions. Biting blizzards , pelicious glacies and fatal avalaches ; these are some of the dangers mountaineers face when attempting to face Acongua (the highest point of the Andes ).

Many people , animals and plants inhabit the Andes mountain range .3,500 species of animals living in these harsh conditions ? Puma's , Lama's , andean foxes and yacks : These are only some of these species that live in the Andes .

The inhabitants of the Andes survive on a variety of food : potatoes , hot cereal , corn and seeds from a quinoea plant - which are very high in protein -. Yaks milk is used for wool , and to be dranks and its skin is used for shelters .
