Did you know that there are several ways to format text? In this lesson, you will create a document that uses some of the most common formatting options in Word.
Font is the "style" of the text, or how it looks-A design for a set of characters. A font is the combination of typeface and other qualities, such as size, pitch, and spacing. For example, Times Roman is a typeface that defines the shape of each character.
This one is pretty self explanatory: the font size is...the size of the font! You can change it accordingly to change the look of your document. You can either change the font size by using the drop down menu, or by using the Increase or Decrease font size icons.
You can change the color of the Font to make your document more appealing and artistic or easier to read! There are several different color options in Microsoft Word. You will also use a drop down menu to change the color of your text.
Use this feature to make your text stand out with emphasis! It makes your letters appear thicker, compared to others in the sentence.
Use this feature to italicize your text, which means have it slanted! This is also a method of making your text stand out with emphasis! You would also italicize titles of works, such as books or movies.
This tool allows you to put an underline below your text! You also can use the Underline tool when writing about different titles of works.
Use this icon to cross something out in your word document!
Use this tool to get rid of all formatting from the section, such as bold, italics, etc., leaving only the unaltered text!
