*Event two* 1235- Sundiata defeats Sumanguru
Mansa Musa II kept the empire strong during his rule. He inherited the throne from his father, Mansa Mari Diata II. He was succeeded by his brother, Maghan II. Maghan II only ruled two years after that.
Important because: Sundiata defeats Sumanguru, king of sosso, and establishes independence for the Malinke.
This is significant because Sundiata Keita is the founder of the Mali Emire. This is the King that was known as one on the richest men in the World. He was intelligent, Powerful, and Smart.
fun fact: I share the same birthday with Sundiata.

*event five* 1312-1377- Accomplishments for Mali
Mansa Musa's rule was affective and rememberable because he doubled the size of the empire during his rule, and he made architechural, educational, and religous contributions. Mansa Musa also developed cities like Timbuktu, Gao, and others into important cultural centers.
The start of Mali is significant because it is the start of a wealthy, indefeatable empire. Sundiata was known for proclaiming the first charter of human rights, The Maden Charter. The Mali Empire was also very rich because it had large quantities of gold. There was so much gold that the King became known as the richest man in the world. They were so stong, because everyone wanted gold. They quickly became the center of trade and rapidly became richer.
The empire declined after the 16th century because of the lack of a strong king, internal conflicts, attacks from neighboring states, and the fall of their Trans-Saharan trade network. Many states and neighboring countries wanted their land and attacks/wars were a big part of the decline. The Mali empire was offically down in 1591, after a Moraccan invasion of the Songhi Empire.
