The National Monument, or "Monas" as it is popularly called, is one of the monuments built during the Sukarno era of fierce nationalism. The top of the National Monument is Freedom Square. It stands for the people's determination to achieve freedom and the crowning of their efforts in the Proclamation of Independence in August 1945. The 137-meter tall marble obelisk is topped with a flame coated with 35 kg of gold. The base houses a historical museum and a hall for meditations. The monument is open to the public and upon request the lift can carry visitors to the top, which offers a bird's eye view on the city and the sea.

Go early to beat the crowds and the haze. It is easy for the less physically able as lifts take visitors to the top. The diorama exhibition in the basement gives such a distorted view of Indonesian history.

This imposing obelisk is Jakarta's most famous landmark. Construction started in 1961 under President Soekarno but was not completed until 1975, under President Soeharto. The monument houses a couple of museums. The Freedom Hall depicts Indonesia's struggle for independence through a series of dioramas, whereas the Hall of Contemplation displays the original Declaration of Independence document and a recording of the speech.

The word “Glue Gun” may sound dangerous for us, but it is not an actual gun to shot a bullet. Instead it can help us in making a handicraft. In the process the heat from the gun will melt the glue stick and turn it into liquid form that we can use to stick anything including the parts of our handicraft. Follow these following steps if you want to use the glue gun.

1) Check and clean the glue gun from any old glue clogging in the nozzle.

2) Put the glue stick into the gun nozzle.

3) Insert the plug into the electricity socket.

4) Prepare a sheet of paper and put the glue gun on it.

5) Wait until the gun gets warmer.

6) Squeeze the trigger gently to check if the glue stick has changed into liquid form.

7) Finally, you can apply it on any surface that you want to stick by using this glue gun.

Fable

the leopard man- African folktale

A handsome stranger once came into a certain village and strolled about among the people in mysterious silence. All the maidens admired him and wished that he would choose one of them for his bride. But he said nothing, and at last walked away into the forest and disappeared from sight.

A month later the stranger came again, and this time one of the maidens fell so much in love with him that she resolved to follow him into the forest, as she could not bear to be separated from him.

When the stranger looked back and saw her coming behind him, he stopped, and begged her to return home; but she would not, and exclaimed, "I will never leave you, and wherever you go, I will follow."

"Beautiful maiden, you will regret it," replied the stranger sadly, as he hurried on.

After a while he stopped again, and once more begged her to retrace her steps. But she made the same reply, and again the handsome stranger said in sorrowful tones, "You will regret it, beautiful maiden!"

They went far into the depths of the forest, and at length reached a tree at the foot of which there lay a leopard skin.

Standing under the tree, the stranger began to sing a melancholy song, in which he told her that though he was allowed once a month to wander about in villages and towns like a man, he was in reality a savage leopard and would rend her in pieces as soon as he regained his natural form.

With these words he flung himself upon the ground, and immediately become a snarling leopard and began to pursue the terrified girl.

But fear gave such speed to her feet that he could not overtake her. As he pursued her he sang that he would tear her in small pieces, and she in another song replied that he would never overtake her.

For a great distance they ran, and then the maiden suddenly came to a deep but narrow river, which she could not cross. It seemed as if the leopard would catch her after all. But a tree, which stood on the riverbank, took pity on her and fell across the river, so that she was able to cross.

At last, nearly exhausted, she came to the edge of the forest and reached the village in safety. The leopard, disappointed of its prey, slunk back into the forest, and the handsome stranger was never seen again.

Sir Isaac Newton was born on Christmas Day, in 1643, to a relatively poor farming family. His father died three months before he was born. His mother later remarried, but her second husband did not get on with Isaac; leading to friction between Isaac and his parents.

The young Isaac attended school at King’s School, Grantham in Lincolnshire (where his signature is still inscribed on the walls.) Isaac was one of the top students, but before completing his studies his mother withdrew him from school, so Isaac could work as a farmer. It was only through the intervention of the headmaster that Isaac was able to return to finish his studies; he passed his final exams with very good results and was able to go to Trinity College, Cambridge.

At Cambridge, he was able to pursue his interests in mathematics, science and physics. At the time the prevailing education was based on Aristotle, but Isaac was more interested in modern mathematicians such as Rene Descartes. Isaac Newton had a prodigious capacity to consider mathematical problems, and then focus on them until he had solved the mystery behind them. His one-pointed nature led him to, at times, be detached from the world. For example, he had little time for women. An early teenage romance came to nothing, and he remained single throughout his life.

Sir Isaac Newton, has been referred to as one of the greatest geniuses of history. His mathematical and scientific achievements give to such a view

endangered animal

Sumatran rhinoceros (Dicerorhinus sumatrensis) is the only Asian rhinoceros which has 2 horns. It is known as “hairy rhinoceros”, due to its hairy skin. Sumatran rhinoceros are easier to be studied than Javan Rhinoceros.

On the other hand, in the past, Sumatran rhinoceros ever lived in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Southern China, and South-east Asia. But now it faces extinction in many of those places, leaving only 6 populations of this rhinoceros: 4 in Sumatra, 1 in Malayan peninsula, and 1 in Kalimantan.

Moreover, both of rhinoceroses are critically endangered, since there are many poaching and habitat destruction for making palm fields. Poachers are killing this rhinoceros because of its horn, since traditional medicine experts believes that the horn can cure diseases. So, Most of them aim its horn for their own needs in order to maintain their health without taking concern about Rhinoceros existence.

High in dense bamboo forests in the misty, rainy mountains of southwestern China lives one of the world's rarest mammals: the giant panda.

Pandas eat almost nothing but bamboo shoots and leaves. Occasionally they eat other vegetation, fish, or small animals, but bamboo accounts for 99 percent of their diets. They digest only about a fifth of what they eat. Overall, bamboo is not very nutritious. To stay healthy, they have to eat a lot—up to 15 percent of their body weight in 12 hours—so they eat fast.  Pandas' molars are very broad and flat. The shape of the teeth helps the animals crush the bamboo shoots, leaves, and stem that they eat. They can chomp on bamboo up to one-and-a-half inches thick.

A panda should have at least two bamboo species where it lives, or it will starve.  A scarcity in bamboo threatens the already limited panda population.  .

My mother is the most important person in my life. From when I was still a baby until now, she gives me everything that I need. When I am seriously ill she spends all days and nights takes care of me. She teaches me what is good and what is bad and how to differ one from another.

I sometimes make her cry by my bad behavior, but despite my numerous mistakes and disobedience she continues to love me, and she helps me to cope with difficult vital situations. Moreover, my mother understands me in the way no other person would, and she always finds nice words to comfort me. I am able to share different secrets and opinions with her, and I know for sure that she will never let me down. She supports me in whatever I do as long as it is good for me. I was given enough freedom to make my own decisions, and I believe that this is very important in a formation of a person. To conclude, I consider that I am a lucky person because I have my loving mother. I can be like I am now because of her. She has given me everything she could and now I swear to make her happier in her old ages.
