Some countries are more developed (are “have” countries) than other countries (“have not” countries) for a two important reasons. One reason is the physical geography of the country and it’s ability to grow food (agriculture). Some countries are located in areas where the climate, soil, land mass and technologies promote agricultural growth. These same countries became more powerful and “developed”. Another reason for unequal development in the world is colonialism (when one country controls another country politically, economically, militarily, socially and culturally).
The average wealth per person is over $100, 000 per year!
The 3 factors determining wealth are:
Institutions (50%)
Culture(20%)
Geography (30%)
Most rich countries are located in places with different types of biomes, and landforms (like lakes). This helps these countries benefit from the growing seasons, and it supplies clean drinking water, and minerals
Your ancestors worked very hard to create the society we live in today. It isn’t just because of your own mind and hard work (we are lucky). You should also have sympathy for the countries failing to develop because they face many more difficulties than richer countries.
Rich countries have very good institutions.
The richest countries in the world are also known to be the least corrupt ones.
In rich countries, picking someone for a job is done by interviewing, then picking the best one. Irrespective of any personal connection. This allows the rich countries to have the best people suitable for the job that they applied for. In poor countries this is thought of as corrupt thinking.
It is not. The division of the world into countries is not a fixed. In the 1900s about 57 countries existed compared to 193 today. More countries are becoming independent from the countries that colonized them. Also, when there is war within a country, it can break up into smaller countries.
The less people believe, the richer they stand the chance of being. The reason why the U.S is an exception is, they have a strong belief that they can use hard work and talent to alter their destiny.
19 of the richest countries in the world have 70% or more of their population saying that religion is not that important to them.
An exception is the U.S.A. They manage to combine great religiosity with great wealth.
The country that you were born in and live in determines what kind of childhood you are going to have. It determines whether you are well educated or not, whether you are fed well or not, or whether you live in peace and prosperity or not. Where you were born greatly affects a person’s standard of living, or quality of life. Since some people have a better standard of living than others, the world is an unequal place - in human terms.
The per capital wealth is under $1000 dollars a year. Or $3 a day.

Poor countries have very bad institutions.
The poorest countries in the world are known to be the most corrupt ones. When countries are corrupt, they can't get enough taxes for the good institutions needed to escape the "poverty trap."
In poor countries, when you are picking people for a job, you disregard the so called best candidate from an anonymous buch and pick people from your family, friends, or from the same tribe. Disregarding the so called "best" candidate. This doesn't allow them to access the intelligence and talent from the whole population.
The poorest countries in the world are also the most believing or religious ones. Being religious can affect countries in good ways, or bad ways. The ways the poor countries have religion makes it harmful for the countries growth.
They believe that the "here and now" can't be changed and they should just hope that things will get better.
Between 2005 and 2030, most of future population growth will happen in the less developed countries such as Africa, Asia, and Latin America, whose population growth rates are much higher than those in more developed countries because they already have more people and the birth rate is also higher in those countries.
People in tropical countries are also exposed to lots of diseases, while people in rich countries are not. Countries that are landlocked (have no access to rivers and means of transportation) are poorer as well.
Pests such as the tsetse fly are knocking out the large domesticated animals out on a large scale, making them sleepy or inactive, so they can't plow the fields or do other work.
It isn't just the animals that suffer in the tropical regions. People are exposed to a wide array of diseases such as : bacterial infections, malaria, leishmaniasis, leprosy, and marburg. Just to name a few.
Tropical plants are packed with a lot less carbohydrates. A tropical climate can also be disadvantages for photosynthesis.
The most important thing that determines where humans chose to live is how well the area can support agriculture. How well that environmental region can support the growth of food is strongly related to whether humans can live there or not. The climate and quality of the soil determines how well people can grow food in that region. The longer the growing season, the more food can be grown in that area.
Natural resources like oil or metal can be real trouble. Congo may be one of the most mineral rich countries, but natural resource wealth helps elites to grab money without requiring the cooperation of the whole society. The corruption of their institutions does not allow the people to contribute new ideas and improve technologies which would help the whole country.
