IDEAS TO SERVE COMPETITION

"Know What You Don't Know"

WHAT IS I2S?

We are excited to announce a new philosophy for our competition – one that focuses on an in-depth understanding of the social/environmental issue a student is passionate about. In short: we are moving away from pushing for solutions to social issues and instead we are supporting (and incentivizing) an in-depth discovery of any particular social/environmental issue a student is passionate about.

Working on a solution already? You can apply to the Solution Discovery Track.

HOW TO DO IN-DEPTH PROBLEM DISCOVERY

  • Identify and build on the assets of the communities they want to serve
  • Research the solution landscape to learn from both successes and failures
  • Take a systems approach to identifying the root cause versus the symptoms of the issue
  • Conduct customer discovery to better understand the needs of the community
  • Consider the possible unintended consequences of any solution they might propose

OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH

SERVE-LEARN-SUSTAIN

Participating in the I2S competition fulfills the "Final Deliverable" requirement of the Serve-Learn-Sustain (SLS) Innovating for Social Impact Program.

This experiential program, offered in partnership with the Institute for Leadership and Entrepreneurship in the Scheller College of Business, introduces students to social innovation as a tool for social impact, with an emphasis on social entrepreneurship, grassroots innovation, and systems change.

OVERVIEW

Open to undergrad, grad students, and recent alum (graduated May 2018 or later)

Two tracks (Problem Discovery, Solution Discovery), workshops, Impact Gaps Canvas framework

Cash prizes, feedback from experts in the field
