School Counseling Technology Proposal

By Lauren Greenewald

Proposal Overview

Recommended technology tools that can be used to better support students in the areas of decision making, goal setting, and career planning and implementation.

Foundations

In high school, while it’s hard for students to know exactly what they want to do in the future, they can practice and learn the processes for making good decisions, setting big and small goals, and explore careers and make career choices.

Foundations

Technology can help counselors to deliver information in a way that is appealing and engaging, test student’s knowledge, and encourage them to collaborate, connect, and learn from one another.

Program 3: Career Planning and Implementation

Program 3: Career Planning & Implementation

It’s important to have a plan for your career whether you are working in the service industry, pursuing a trade, or attending college.

Overview

  • This begins with exploring available career options, and continues into looking at the salaries available, the training and education required and the time it takes to be trained, the cost of training and education, what funding is available, and what are your options as far as training centers and colleges.
  • Students need to look at pros and cons of their career decisions, know what’s accessible and a good fit for where they live, the funding they have, etc.
  • Counseling staff help students to begin exploring career options and look at the contributing factors to implementing those goals.
