Lisa Leslie's Impact on the World from the Court

Lisa Leslie is a former star basketball player for the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks. She is now the owner of her beloved team today. She has helped change the world's point of view toward women's sports. She wrote her autobiography "Don't Let the Lipstick Fool You; the Making of a Champion" and started the Lisa Leslie Basketball & Leadership Academy, which helped people recognize women's role in sports. Her talent was quite obvious when she scored 101 points in the first half of a high school basketball game; the opponents quit so Lisa couldn't break the record for most points scored in the first half.

Lisa has some other jobs now. She has been a sports reporter for NBC, ABC,etc. and a special guest on talk shows like Good Morning America, Good Day LA, etc.. She is raising awareness about liver cancer, which her stepfather died from. She is also a professional model who is developing new athletic women wear.

Lisa Leslie changed the WNBA greatly. She was the first woman to dunk in a professional game and win 4 Olympic championships for the USA, who in return appreciated her very much. She is a role model for young girls who want to be pros. She was one of the foundational players who cared about & built the image of the WNBA. All this led to her shattering the barrier that people thought women couldn't play sports.

Lisa Leslie worked along Rebecca Lobo & Sheryl Swoopes to make a successful WNBA today (they were the first players to sign a contract with the WNBA). Soon enough, Lisa Leslie had paved the way for fellow dunkers Candace Parker and Brittney Griner. She also honored the people who helped her get into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, such as her "big brother" Magic Johnson. She inspired millions of women around the world to just be themselves.
