Dritë quajmë çdo energji te rrezatimit te cilën mund ta regjistrojë syri i njeriut dhe krijon ndjenjen e vrojtimit te rrethines.Shpejtësia e drites shenohet me c dhe ne boshllëk ka vleren c=300000 km/s.Disiplina e fizikes e cila merret me studimin e dukurive te dritës quhet optikë.Optika ndahet ne optikë gjeometrike dhe optikë valore (fizike).Që moti janë njohura katër ligje themellore te përhapjes se dritës.

Ky ligj thotë: Në mjedise homogjene drita përhapet në mënyrë drejtëvizore.

Vija e drejtë qe ndjek drita gjate përhapjes quhet rreze e dritës.Këtë ligj e gjejmë në optikën e Euklidit,matematikanit grek qe jetoi ne Aleksandri te Egjiptit dhe njihet si baba i gjeometrisë.
