This book deserves a 10/10 because it faces reality.
It gives a perspective of what goes on in a certain lifestyle
It is painful but it really gives you an outlook on how life really like for people
The characters are stereotypical
Ex:
Hailey: She was the friend of Starr and was racist
Graphic
Ex:
The way the author discribed someone's death was too graphic and it kept reminding the reader how bad it was
Too many characters to remember their names
Ex:
The first few chapters their are names that are just irrelevant to the story and it confuses the reader
It involves teenagers and it gives a perspective of ceratin peoples lives and what people actually later. Not only that but it is realistic. The stuff mentioned wasn't sugar coated. The author mentions how police are taking their job for granted. She didn't sugar coat the drugs mentioned or the gangs. She put the real life out there.
This book is highly recommended to people who want to know the reality about police brutality or are intersted in world building. And to those who are interested in justice.
My thoughts on this book was that the message the author gave was about what black people go through in life such as racism, police brutality, and violence. Just because of their certain race or skin color they are treated and seen different in the eyes of the government.
The Hate You Give was about racism and how police take advantage of their titles. The police have been brutal to many people especially black people here in the United States. The main character saw that in front of her and she is being challenged if she should do something about it or not. Throughout the story she faces new challenges and gets a new perspective about how people view her. Wether race or anything else.
