PPG at

Ivy Lane School

What are the key messages of the PPG report?

What are the key messages of the PPG report?

E

PPG report:

At the moment there is a significant gap between those children eligible for PPG achieving ARE and those who are not eligible for PPG.

PPG Report key information:

D

Barriers to future attainment:

  • Reading for pleasure and purpose (including higher order comprehension skills).
  • Meeting the expections of the new curriculum.
  • Children eligable for PPG reaching GDS.
  • Parental support and aspirations.

C

What are we doing to close the gap?

  • Closely tracking and monitoring the progress and wellbeing of children eligible for PPG and those identified as 'vulnerable' (PPG + SEND).

  • Trialling strategies in Y3 and once proven to have a positive impact on PPG progress rolling out throughout ILS.

  • Continued specialist targeted support (ERP, RR, Talking Stories etc.)

  • Internal school review day focussing on 'vulnerable' learners and reading (comprehension).

  • Using forest school, outdoor learning approaches and Learning mentors to meet the social, emotional and academic needs of PPG and vulnerable learners.

  • Increasing engagement with parents of children eligible for PPG.

  • Raising aspirations of PPG and vulnerable learners.

B

What impact is this having?

  • Significant gaps in Y1-Y5 but Y1 and Y3 evidence of gaps beginning to close.

  • Y6 data shows no significant gaps between PPG and Non-PPG learners and is comparable to national.

  • Raised profile of PPG and Vulnerable learners.

  • Good PPG practice becomming embedded at ILS.

  • PPG pupil conferencing shows mostly positive attitudes to reading.

  • PPG children gaining confidence in themselves as learners.

What the report doesn't show us:

A

  • PPG and Reading day -
  • 92% of families eligible for PPG are reading together regularly.
  • We have identified what the 8% have in common and are working on strategies to close the gap.

What next?

A

  • Analyse PPG and vulnerable learner data from A2 in greater detail.

  • Next round of pupil conferencing.

  • Trial YR targetted parental engagement model in other key stages.

  • Explore accessing Wiltshire Adult Learning Services for target families.

  • Draw on experiences and strategies from MAT.

What is working?

?

What is not working?

Cohort 2018

There is no significant gap in the attainment of those children eligable for PPG and those who are not.

Why?

Not just Y6 - What have we got right for this cohort on their Ivy Lane journey?

What circumstances?

How can we replicate this?
