Angle

An angle is two rays with and end point.

Angles

An example of an angle that you see every day is a doorway.

Ray

A ray is a line that extends forever in one direction.

what is a ray?

a ray that you have probably seen before would be a light ray from a flash light or lazer pointer

the letter "x" on this exit sign has an exaple of an acute angle and and obtuse angle

acute & obtuse angles

an obtuse angle

this is an acute angle

this window has a examples of a few different types of angles

straight angles measure 180°

some more angles

a right angle is an angle measuring 90°

these two right angles share a vertex and are adjacent to eachother

Triangles

a triangle is a shape that has 3 sides and 3 angles

an equilateral triangle has all of its sides the same length like this

an isosceles triangle has two equal sides

Triangles

this is a scalene triangle because all 3 of its sides are different lengths

Triangles can also be defined by their angle.

an acute triangle that has 3 acute angle

Triangles based on angles.

a right triangle is a triangle with a right angle

an equilateral triangle is also an acute triangle because all 3 of its angles are less than 90°

Polygons

  • polygons are closed two dimensional shapes made of straight lines

you can find polygons on the road, in street signs

polygons

this rectangle is also a polygon

a regular polygon is a polygon with all sides equal lengths

this polygon is a octagon a two dimensional shape closed with 8 sides.

triangles are polygons.

you can also see geometrical lines on the road.

these street lines are parallel to each other. they run along side but never touch

lines in geometry

perpendicular lines are lines that intersect like this
