SPED System Assignment

How doe Special Education System works?

How does it work?

Special Education systems are still evolving due to new resources and new assessments evolving as well. Yet, this system was created to help children with disabilities, any type due to the variety of them. This system was to help them be able to be a part of the education system by having the proper resources for the students to learn from. Lastly, this system was also made due to students with disabilities being a big risk for being discriminated due to at times being misplaced or not understood to how they learn. This system was made for an equal chance for an education for students with special needs.

Laws that have caused an impact

Timeline of Laws

  • Brown v. Board of Education (1954)
  • The Education for All Handicapped Children Act (1975)
  • Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (1990)
  • No Child Left Behind (2001)

Brown v. Board of Education (1954)

For this case, it was seen that it was unconstitutional to segregate children due to their color of their skin. Plus, with this case it showed that while children were being separated it was not equal at all. This showed that children should be given the same opportunities no matter what. This applies to special needs kids so for them not to go through the same as those when this case occurred.

This act influenced Special Education because it is making sure all students are receiving equalized education for all students with disabilities.

Some of the ways it is possible is by making sure that students with disabilities are required to have a specialized plan that works around the students needs.

No Child Left Behind (2001)

No Child Left Behind (2001)

Within this act, it focuses on how the students are performing academically no matter their situation. This act is making sure that due to the outcome of the students assessments the school is making sure they are doing whatever they can to ensure they all their students are succeeding no matter their situation. This can look like by finding resources within the school and outside the school as well.
