By: Ramsey Leonard

Recommendation

Genre

This book is realistic fiction because it could actually happen, and there are regular people.

Leigh Botts

Leigh Botts is a young boy with short brown hair, and brown eyes. He is very kind and he likes to read.

Mr. Henshaw

Mr. Henshaw is a book author who's real name is Boyd. He is an older man with grey hair and blue eyes.

2 Main Characters

This book is about a boy named Leigh Botts. He recently just moved to a new town. He also moved schools, and now he is in 6th grade. He wrote a letter to the famous author Boyd Henshaw. He asked Mr. Henshaw many questions, but the biggest thing that he wanted to know was how to write a book. Read this book to find out if Mr. Henshaw writes back to Leigh, and if Leigh actually writes his own book.

Summary

This story takes place in a small town at Leighs small school. It is a bright and sunny place that has a lot of wildlife and nature. This book takes place in the 80's do to context clues.

Setting

Everyone in this room should read Dear Mr. Henshaw because it is somewhat an easy read, and it is humerous. Anyone from the ages of 11-13 would enjoy this book. Over all, I would give this book 4 stars. :)

Theme/ Picture

The theme of this book is to never give up even if it is really hard. I know this because Leigh wanted to give up because he had to move and go to a new school, which meant that he would have to make new friends. Leigh wanted to give up, but then he started to write letters to Mr. Henshaw which made him realize that he shouldn't give up.
