The Bamberg witch trials Started in 1626 CE. It started because the city of Bamberg was going through wars, conflicts, plagues and famines due to lack of crops. This made people think that a witch was among them. Also, their leader Dornheim encouraged people to accuse others and he made a witch prison to hold these accused witches.

The Bamberg witch trials came to an end in 1631 CE. This is because the Imperial Chamber, the highest judicial court at that time, recieved numerous complaints about witchcraft and sorcery in Bamberg. So The leaders of the Imperial Chamber sent a Sweedish army to go and kill Bambergs leader, Dornheim. The army accomplished their mission, and the people of Bamberg were without a leader, the idea of witchraft faded away in the town of Bamberg.

The Bamberg witch trials burnt roughly about 1000 people. This is 40 times the amount of people killed at the Salem witch trials. Though the people accused had no connection with witchcraft, they were still accused for witchcraft. But, there is only evidence for most of the people accused, the others just went missing and were never seen again.
Witches Were Hanged And Drowned To Death. But The Most Popular And Brutal Death Was Being Burnt Alive Or Being Tortured To Death.
The leader of Bamberg Prince-Bishop Gottfried Johann Georg II Fuchs von Dornheim. The vice chancellor of Bamberg Dr George Hann was allowed to check the trials, but because of this his whole family were burned. Also, Wolfgang Hoffmeister, the Treasurer of Bamberg was also locked up. This gave even more power to Dornheim as he now was allowed to confiscate anything he would like, even property.
A witch prison called Drudenhaus that could hold up 30-40 people at once. The Bamberg witch trials was one of the biggest witch trials ever recorded with around one thousand deaths.
The Witch Prison Drudenhaus Was Made In 1627 CE And It Was Closed Down In 1632 CE.
