Academic Honesty

Made by Jakub Kendziorek and Karol Duź

Dear students !

When you work you can choose between several approaches. You can study and work honestly but you can stroll down a dark path of cheating and plagiarizing . Why should you choose Academic Honesty ?

Academic honesty gives you a peace of mind knowing that your doing the right thing, and always trying to live according to those beliefs. Working honestly can reduce many of the unnecessary stresses in your life, making you happier, healthier and more productive.

How to achieve it ?

To achieve academic honesty you have to know how to avoid these practises:

Plagiarism

Plagiarism is copying or closely imitating work of somebody else like; concepts, ideas and methods, without proper acknowledgment.

Cheating:

Cheating can be things like: crib notes, looking for the other`s persons answer during a test or using electronic devices for devilish deeds.

Deception

Deception is giving false information to the teacher like: spending more time on a home test than you should have or lying about your homework

Consequences

If you`re still not convinced that you should not do the previously mentioned deeds, here are some consequences:

Consistent malpractice:

Your university application may include a damning report of such practices.

Plagiarism:

The work could be denied and and no mark or grade could be given.

The easiest way to avoid this debacle is to find photos that are copyright-free on sites like: pixelbay, unsplash or shutterstock.

However if you really want to use something not creativecommons the you have to cite that thing properly.

How to cite

Citing at first seems easy but there are actually strict procedures about doing so.

The way of citing is called MLA and that MlA encompasses everythig from a Journal article citing to an image. Here are some examples of correct citing.

You can visit https://www.citationmachine.net/ if you don`t want to cite things manually.
