Production and Distribution after Decolonization

How Decolonization Affects the World Today

Production and Distribution changed into having more limitations on trade and a budgeted market.

Decolonization doesn't have any long term affects in Ghana that are still present today besides maybe its main trading partner being Britain.

The Changes in Networks as a Result of Decolonization

Timeline

The region of Ghana had several network changes after its independence.

  • The British Government maintained control of trade in the region.

  • American & European nations tried to influence how the region's government was going to be made.

  • European countries tried to take control of Ghana.

1966-

Nkrumah is overthrown in a military coup

1925-

1st legislative council elections

How Communities Were Affected by Decolonization

1957-Independence for Ghana.

1960-

Ghana becomes republic and Nkrumah is elected president

1948-

British police kill 3 Ghanaian WWII veterans that were rioting for their compensation from serving in the military.

1969-

New constitution leads to transfer of power to a civilian government led by Kofi Busia

The market class was heavily affected by decolonizaton.

They had previously had to share their resources with British Merchants.

After the most of the British left, the merchants had little trading partners.

This was because the British had held the trading connections to foreign governments.

The communities affected were the economic and political communities of Ghanese life.

Life Before

What Life was Like After Decolonization

Ghana before decolonization was ruled by Britain and kown for its rare materials, these materials included a variety of gold and ivory that they traded with other countries with. Ghana was additionally known for its trade in slaves. Production before declonizaton was not as budgeted as during and after decolonization, before decoloniation the production and distribution was more of that of a free economy iwtw limited rules.

Ghana Decolonization Project

Ghana became unstable after decolonization with the leader Nkrumah being ousted after 9 years of decolonization, then a series of military governments began one after the other until 1992.

Before Decolonization

Ghana was a Gold Colony ruled by Britain

How Ghana Decolonized

When Ghana Decolonized

Ghana decolonized successfully in 1957.

Communities in Ghana were affected by colonization before they were affected by decolonization.

Since, the British had taken hold over the country the police were seen as bias, and that's why they were untrusted and seen as illegitimate.

The market community faced severe problems. This was because they had to share trade with the British merchants.

Ghana decolonized by:

  • Having the Certified Protection Professionals hold majority in a legislative meeting.

  • Then calling on a vote for Ghana to be independent and ruled by the CPP.

  • Ghana was then voted independent and carved out of the Gold Coast Colony.

Who Gana Aligned With

The trouble of sharing trade was that the British were the ones with all of the trade connections so the Ghanese people would have to trade with the British merchants first.

Ghana was nuetral throughout the cold war.
