The biotope in the Rocky Mountains is a varied environment , with a contrast of elevations, fluctuating from 304-4500m high. Because of this difference in height, there is also a lot of difference in temperature and precipitation.
This causes in a rather strange biotope and abiotic factor. One moment there is dense forest and the other there is a thick sheet of snow with no tree to be seen for kilometers on end.
The Rocky mountains is also known for its rivers, creeks and ponds which contain many species of fish and algae, this provides other species with important recources and food.
The flora and fauna of the Rocky mountains attract many insects and other herbivores, and were there is prey, there is always a predator. The Rocky mountains inhabit many different carnivores such as the Coyote, Grey wolf and Mountain lion.
The Rocky Mountains also inhabit numerous different species ranging from insects, to small rodents, to the infamous American black bear.
The Rocky Mountains has a continental climate, in which the winters are cold and full of snow, and in the summer it is mild to warm
