I was anxious when I first arrived at pre-school because I thought it would be difficult for me. I continued to slowly progress with word pronunciation and got better at not mixing up my letters as the school year went on. My teachers were a huge help, and they never made me feel awful about saying or writing a word incorrectly. I was able to avoid falling far behind by using educational games and practicing word pronunciation and reading at home.

In elementary school I remember studying the letter outlines so we could develop our writing skills. I really got into reading during my elementary school year because every time we checked out a book and took a test on it, we received AR points, and if we reached a certain amount of points, we received rewards. I was anxious since I would be taking the STAAR test when I started middle school. I worked very hard to prepare for the test since I didn't want to fail and fall behind. There were two parts to the test, a multiple-choice section and an essay section. The essay section terrified me the most because I struggled with writing. However, I was aware that this would benefit me in the long run for more difficult reading and writing in high school. In highschool, we started writing and reading more seriously. I was aware that it would be challenging, but I had to push myself to succeed. Different formats had to be learned for writing, and reading required the ability to understand and apply different written language forms.
