Roy Mackal was a biochemist at the University of Chicago but in 1980 he went to the Congo region to interview the native residents about the possibilty of a dinosaur in the jungle. Although he never found any physical evidence he still punlished a book called "A Living Dinosaur? In Search Of Mokele-Mbembe" in 1987.
Dinosaurs, which are classified as reptiles, are a widely recognized group of animals that are believed to have first emerged about two hundred and thirty million years ago. Other creatures such as birds and crocodiles are also included in this category.

Another name it is known by is Mokele-Mbembe the more famous name that means "one who stops the flow of rivers". These names are fitting for a giant aquatic creature and it has earned the reputation of being one of the most famous unsolved enigmas from the African continent.
