UNCONDITIONAL

BASIC

INCOME

What is the UBI?

- every human being gets a certain amount of money every month

- they do not need to give anything in return

- the amount is so high, that you can afford living off of it

history

- Spartas constitution guaranteed every citizen the essential goods

- Thomas Morus had the idea in Utopia to fight criminality

- the concept we know now was developed by Joseph Charlier

Why do we need it?

- living a dignified life is a fundamental right

- for that you need: food and water, clothing, a place to life as well as the participation in the political and cultural happenings in our society

- if that is not the case, our fundamental rights are worthless

emancipation

- Germany needs kids

- people cannot afford them because 219€ child benefit is not enough

-> especially if you have costs for childcare

- if one partner takes care for the child, they are dependent on the other partner

- can lead to people getting a divorce later on, because their existence depends on their partner

equal opportunities

- 77% of children with academic parents also study

- only 23% of children with non academic parents study

- not everyone can afford to study

- the unconditional basic income would give children the chance to do with their lives what they want

How is it affordable?

- 1000€ for adults

- 500€ for children

- financed by the consumption or sales tax

- many social services like Bafög or Arbeitslosengeld would be gone

- sales taxes would be higher

- rich people consume more -> they pay more taxes -> money redistributes

Would anyone still work?

- work is more than a livelihood for most people in Germany

- over 90% ensure they would continue working

- half of them thinks the others would not (Dunning Kruger effect)

- usefulness of jobs would be perceived better, e.g. nurses would be paid better

- UBI is only there to build a base for existance
