- Make sure to get a residence permit, you will need to have a valid reason for wanting to enter the country for the authorities since Nigeria is not quite a usual tourist destination
- You will want to get there during a dry period
--> it rains about five months during the rains which leads to floodings etc.
- Exceedingly hot during dry periods
--> daytime temperatures up to 50 degrees in the summer months
- Suggested months for travelling are November to March
--> heat is passable (about 30 degrees)
--> nights are cool (about 20 degrees)
- Be aware of the health issues in Nigeria
--> important to be vaccinated against Hepatitis A and Typhoid
--> take prescription medicine in the form of pills to prevent Malaria
- Avoid to get bitten by any insect, most of those carry diseases which can have serious implications on your health

The accommodation should be individually adjusted to the activities that want to be accomplished since you want to be close to your destinations
you can reside….
- near the city center so that you can walk to most of the sights in the capital city of Nigeria
- near other cities with interesting sights (maybe harder to reach since you arrive at the airport in Abuja)
- closer to the nature and/or the deserts of Nigeria if you are interested in Safaris or walks through the desert etc.

- Nigeria has a lot of traffic
--> epic traffic jams, especially in the major cities
- It can take months to get a Nigerian driver's license
- Traffic lights do not normally work well
- Stop signs are not taken seriously
- Floods during the rainy season
- Fuel shortages are frequent
--> fill up your gas tank before heading out on Nigerian roads
--> long lines at fuel stations
- always take a mobile phone just in case as well as bottled water to deal with traffic in the heat

Buses are largely deemed unsafe due to poor maintenance, out of control driving and packed-in passengers but it could be worth the experience, as it is also very cheap

- Motorbike taxis, which are a common method of transport
- Risky due to the driver's erratic maneuvering and disregard of traffic laws
- Banned in Abuja and Lagos after 10 pm

- Major hotels will supply this service

- Make sure the driver has documents to prove his identity
--> otherwise you might get duped by criminals

The Abuja National Mosque
- Open to non-Muslim public, except during congregational prayers
- Located in the very center of Abuja

- Within the cultural area of Abuja
→ the National Christian Centre and the An Noor Mosque are right across
- A chance to become familiar with the local culture and their traditions since about 50% of Nigeria´s inhabitants practice the Islamic religion
