Tess's dad used the starspinner to get to Ms. Ackerbees world and dropped Tess off at her doorstep, then left the starspinner with Tess. Ms. Ackerbee raised Tess. Ms. Ackerbee told Tess she was from another reality and gave her the starspinner. Mr. Cleat took Tess away to Rodeer Lodge when she was 12. He would go through Tess's experiment notebook and bought her fancy lab equiment. Wilf kept writing letters to Tess and Millie told her Mrs. Thistleton and Mr. Cleat wouldnt give them to Tess, and they wouldnt send Tess's letters to Wilf and Ms. Ackerbee. Tess wanted space from Mr. Cleat so she climbed the fence and went into the woods, then found the chapel. Inside the chapel, Mr. Cleat saw Tess reading a book his dad got him, and he already knew Tess was from a different reality, so to try to get her to open up to him, he opened up to her about him studying different realities; the book is from a different reality.
