Sounds cheesy but the movie Zootopia is an example of nature and nurture shaping development. Although her parents and everyone around her have always been farmers, she chooses to become a police officer.
After seeing this image and dawned on me, children starting school this year not knowing about real classrooms. Or young children that are born now seeing people wear mask think it is normal because they don’t understand.
No one wants to admit the other parent has style, but outfits that were worn back in the 70’s and 80’s are making a comeback due to the nature and nurture.
Personal Story
Growing up I always saw everyone in my family helping anyone and everyone who needed help. Younger me did not understand why we need to help people, and would always turn people in need away. Once my mom gave a few dollars to the lady that “panhandles” outside her job. A couple minutes later we saw her give some of the money we gave her to another homeless and something finally clicked to me. The true skill of giving/generosity I observed from a person that had nothing.
Both of her parents and older brother smoke cigarettes and by the age she was 14 so did she. That’s what she saw everyone around her do growing up.
"Should I go to College?"
My friends family owns their own business, nobody pushed him to succeed because they wanted him to work the family business. He decided to go to college, and became first generation college student.
Long-term neglect creates toxic stress and deprives a child of social interaction skills which are important for brain development. Resistance is overcoming those hardships.
