Laodicea's Response to Christ

Laodicea's Response to Christ

The wealthiest of the seven churches of Asia Minor.

Revelation 3:14-22 : A Call to repentance.

The Correct Response to God

Matthew 13:44, An enthusiastic response to God's crazy love for us.

US Church's Typical Response to God's Crazy Love

page 66...we are numbers crazy.

We are wowed by big crowds.

You assume this is a Scriptural and Apostolic response, but is it?

Is this the type of response that God wants us to have to His love?

Why did Jesus speak in parables when crowds gathered?

The Parable of the Sower

Luke 8:4 The seed = the Word (the Truth) tossed onto different surfaces with different responses. Page 67: "Most American churchgoers are the soil that chokes the seed because of thorns. Thorns are anything that distracts us from God. When we want God and a bunch of other stuff, then that means we have thorns in our soil. A relationship with God simply cannot grow whe money, sin, activities, favorite sports teams, addictions or commitments are piled on top of it. " See David Goetz quote page 67.

oh and by the way: "Do not assume you are good soil."

Has Your God Relationship Changed the Way You Live?

Do you see evidence of God's Kingdom in your life?

Or, are you choking it out slowly by spending too much time, energy, money, and thought on the things of this world?

Phillippeans 3:10 Paul wanted more than a surface relationship with Jesus, being Godly enough to get to heaven.

See quote on p. 68 "...the American church is a difficult place to fit in if you want to live out New Testament Christianity."

Would you describe yourself as totally in love with Jesus Christ ? Or do the words halfhearted, lukewarm and partially committed fit better.

Your Appropriate Responses to God's Love....

Your Inappropriate Responses to God's Love....

Luke 14:34-35

" Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is neither fit for the soil nor for the manure pile; it is thrown out."

God uses Scripture to get the attention of those who will not follow HIm all of the way.

It is up to you where you go from here regarding your responses to God's love.
