The purpose of the MBTI is to make the theory of physiological types understandable and useful in people lives. The MBTI instrument sorts for preference and does not measure traits, ability, or character.
The MBTI is an introspective self report questionnaire, when taken the test there is no “ right or wrong” , “ better or worse”, everything is equal but different.
Carl G. Jung introduced the theory in the 1920’s then 20 years later Isabel Briggs Myers and her mother Katharine Cook developed the MBTI in the 1940’s.
Study Strategies
- Introversion: Create mind maps, study independently, find a quite study place
- Extraversion: Create note-cards and outlines, from or join study groups, if you are working on a paper, start writing now.
- Intuition: Study in blocks of times, use your creativity, consider the big picture
- Sensing: Use diagrams and outlines, take notes and create flash cards.
- Feeling: Find connections in the material, study strategies, keep your notes organized.
- Thinking: Focus on the logic of the presented information, determine if the facts really support the conclusions, think of alternative explanations.
- Judging: Study in an organized environment, try different study strategies, keep your notes organized.
- Perceiving: Keep a calendar and mark it with deadlines, complete tasks, don't give up easily, don't procrastinate.
In the MBTI types each of the four preference has two possible choices, sixteen psychological types are possible.
