After the American flag was created, there were 27 changes to the flag and 25 of these changes were only made to the number of stars. The number of stars changed whenever a new state was established as an official state.
The stars on the flag represent how many states there are in America at that moment in time. The 13 stripes represent the original 13 colonies. The colors of the flag don’t have a real official meaning to them. Although there was a suggested meaning to it. “White signifies purity and innocence, Red, hardiness and valor, and Blue signifies vigilance, perseverance and justice.”
The union flag symbolizes freedom, patriotism, and promise of citizenship. It was important to the soldiers and the north for these reasons.
A ship captain got an American flag and displayed it on one of his journeys. When he was leaving the port one of the people yelled “Old Glory” because of how the flag looked flowing in the wind.
Finland’s flag’s colors (Blue and White) can represent things in nature such as skies, lakes, and snow. The cross on the flag symbolizes Christianity which is the main religion in the country.
The confederate flag symbolizes southern heritage and since the main flag known was the battle flag, it also symbolizes honoring soldiers. The flag is meaningful to the south.
The Confederate flag can’t be used today because some think it’s offensive. Some People think it stands for slavery and rasism and if it was flown today, there would be many problems and conflict if it was used today.
The stars on the first official flag represent the 7 succeeded states in the deep south. The stars on the second official flag represent the succeeded states currently in the south.
Their first flag was called the “Stars and Bars” and was similar to the union’s flag but only had 2 red stripes and 1 white stripe with 7 stars. The uniforms were too similar to the union’s so they switched to their battle flag that had a blue cross with 13 stars across it and a red background on a white field.
