Cooperative Relationships

Cooperative

This relationship is when a species works together in order to survive.

Can you think of any cooperation relationships?

Examples of This Relationship:

- The Leaf-cutter ants all help carry leaves to their nest so fungus can grow on them for food

- Elephants help raise each others young

- Wolves hunt in packs for better chances of succes and survival

Predator-Prey Relationship

This is a relationship in which one organism (the predator) eats another organism (the prey)

- Grizzly Bears catching fish

- Hammerhead sharks catching stingrays

A Deeper Dive

Predators often cature weak or injured individuals of a prey population.

When the weak members of a population are removed, there are more resources avaliable for the remaining members which acutally keeps the prey population healthy.

Competitive Relationships

Competitive

This is a relationship where organisms share the same habitat but have to compete for resources.

Competition describes interactions between TWO or MORE organisms that need the same resource at the same time.
