A scientist named Willy Burgdorfer found Lyme disease to be carried by Deer ticks. He discovered that ticks carried bacterium called a spirochete. Lyme disease is a fast-growing infection in the United States.
Symptoms & Affects
Lyme disease can affect any organ including: the brain, muscles, nervous system, the heart and joints. Some symptoms are joint stiffness, swelling, and pain. Joint pain is common symptom of Lyme disease. Another symptom is: fatigue. Being fatigue means to have no energy, feeling tired and exhausted. You may also have flu like symptoms such as fevers and chills.
Lyme disease can affect a person at a young age. Some signs of Lyme disease are: harsh headaches, stomach issues, anxiety, crippling depression, exhaustion, hard to concentrate and sensitivity. A couple of ways to prevent Lyme disease is by is: cover up when you are in a grassy area, use insect repellent when you go outside, clear bushy areas where ticks live, check yourself for ticks when you come back inside, and remove the tick immediately with tweezers.

Lyme disease is a type of infection caused by a type of bacterium called spirochete. Males are more prone to Lyme disease from ages 5-68. Women are not as prone to Lyme disease until ages 69-90.
