Archetypes

we had to use different archetypes. these are very general characters that are different from each other. e.g The hero and the devil. we use these to understand the motivations of the characters we play, and also to understand them better.

Improv Games

We played a few improv games in our sessions with Jon, but i also brought them up with friends. I feel it is important to improve how we react to other characters on stage. it also helps when something goes wrong. it improves our ability to recover.

Past events

in the Sunshine on Leith scene we were told by Claire to think about something in the past that made us feel sad or down. it helps to bring the emotion to life.

Singing

Breath Control

it is important to control your breathing when singing so you can hold notes longer and have a better crescendo. breathing supports your voice and produces a better sound.

vocal warmup

we had to use some audio clips which told us the sounds we had to make, like different vowels. it is important to warm up our voices because it allows us to produce the best sound while also keeping the voice healthy.

Warmup

Diphthongs

Words with two vowels next to each other. To make the word sound better when singing, accentuate the first vowel and round it off quickly with the second vowel. It sounds really odd otherwise.

Tongue Twister

We use tongue twisters to improve diction so the words we sing are as clear as possible. We used ones like 1,2,3,4 and Toboggan

Production

Production

in production, there is a range of things to do. things like rigging, painting, sanding, flooring. i also had to do Front of House, which involves selling tickets, ushering, programs, announcements and refreshments.

Dancing

Warm-ups are important for movement because the body can be used more efficiently and effectively. They are also good for stretches.

Warm-up

Stretches are important part of dance. Flexibility is a key skill when doing more challenging dances. It also makes you more elegant and agile.

Stretches

we used isolation in the Jamie dance and in bat out of hell. it allows for sharper, more lively movement.

Isolation

Slaloms are good for improving movement. They also improve spacial awareness and focus.
