William was five when The Revolutionary War begun.he had five older brothers that fought for Virginia.Williams oldest,Johnathan Clark,served as a conel durning the war,rising to the rank of brigadier general in the Virginia militia years afterward.

Williams parents always said that who ever in the Clark family had red hair would become famous and guess what all the Clarks that had red hair did become famous.
