Leeuwenhoek

Leeuwenhoek made microscopes consisting of high quality lenses, that were very advanced for the 17th century.

Leeuwenhoek made his own microscopes by grinding tiny lenses and observing cells through them.

Hooke was an english physicist who discovered plant cells by observing cork through microscopes.

  • Hooke was the son of a churchman and largley educated at home by his father.

Our world today certainly wouldn’t be the same without the work of Hooke and Leeuwenhoek and their great discoveries.

Before Hooke became a scientist on micro-organisms, Astronomy was the science that Hooke pursued for longer than any other.

Robert Hooke and Antoni van Leeuwenhoek were two pioneers of microscopy who discovered the existence of micro organisms in the 17th century.
