How do I become a member of NJHS?
Students in grades 7 and 8 must have a cumulative GPA of 90 or above over three marking periods to receive an application to become a member of NJHS. You will be notified in April/May 2021 if you qualify to apply. Applications require students to elaborate on how they exemplify the key components of NJHS. The NJHS application has four components:
Community Service Log (minimum of ten (10) hours)
*Note - There are many virtual options for earning your community service hours! Email Ms. Blenk or Ms. Peralta if you would like more information.
Teacher Recommendations (total of three (3) teachers)
Leadership Statement (paragraph)
Character and Citizenship Essay (1-2 pages)
What happens if I am inducted into NJHS?
Once inducted, you do not need to reapply for NJHS from year to year. However, you must complete twenty (20) hours of community service throughout the year and submit a one-page reflection on your community service experience at the end of the year.
