1789-1792

  • Free people of color and mixed individuals are requesting citizenship from the French monarchy

  • Vincent Ogé has died on Februrary 6th, 1791 causing this rebellion to go FULL SCALE in his name

1793

1793-1795

  • Britian and Spain have joined in on claiming Saint Dominigue!

  • Rebel slaves under the authority of rebellious commander, Toussaint, have joined forces with Spain against the French!

1799

1799

  • A civil war has broken out among the rebels!

  • Toussaint, the leader of the North, and Riguad, leader of the south, fight for complete control over Saint Domingue!

  • Toussaint comes out on top!

1801

1801

  • Toussaint has started an invasion of Santo Domingo in high hopes of control over the whole island!
  • Toussaint succeeds in aboloshing salvery and instituded aconstitution claiming autonomy from France.

1802

1802

  • Emperor Napoleon has sent his brother in law to reclaim Santo Domingo and reestablish slavery!
  • Toussaint has been tricked and killed.

1803

1803

  • Napoleon has agreed to sell the Louisiana territory in an act of desperation to stay in the fight against the rebels now under the control of Jean-Jacques Dessalines!

Dessalines officially declares independance
