PROJECT TITLE:

ENHANCEMENT OF EXISTING CROPS AND ANIMAL PRODUCTION

OF RECOLETOS FARM (EECAP-RF), ALFONSO, CAVITE

Project Title

INTRODUCTION

Urgent need to enhance proper management which is crucial in agricultural crops and animal production in order to maximize productivity and profit with due consideration on a friendly environmental practices for a more sustainable production system.

Proper farm record keeping is also a vital part in a management to monitor the expenses and income of the farm .

This is a good practice that can be adopted which serves as basis in decision making for a more doable recommendations to further improve the farm practices and for expansion purposes

OBJECTIVES

Generally, the project aims to develop a model agri-ecotourism farm on a gradual basis of Recoleto’s landholdings in Alfonso, Cavite for a five-year period. Specifically, in a one-year period, it aims to:

1. Enhance the productivity of the existing crops and livestock to maximize return on investments,

2. Promote proper work attitude and camaraderie among farm workers,

3. Prepare a strategic plan for the attainment of its long term goals to become more market-oriented with an environment friendly practices.

FARM PLANS AND PRIORITIES IN 2019-2020

I. WEED CONTROL MANAGEMENT

• Spraying herbicide e.g. glyphosate every quarter depending on the regrowth of weeds .

II. COFFEE AND CACAO PRODUCTION AND MANAGEMENT ACTIVITIES

• Fertilizer costs and labor are the largest investment of the coffee farm

4. Irrigation/Watering.

5. Harvesting.

6. Marketing.

VII. LINKAGES TO DIFFERENT AGRICULTURE RELATED AGENCIES

1. On the Job Training (OJT) site for Agriculture students and other agri-related programs

2. Partnership in boiler /layer production

3. Seedlings of various tree species for the rehabilitation /establishment of the forest demo farm

4. Organic Fertilizer Production ( Farm Waste Recycling)

5. Negotiation to Plant Now Pay Later program for plantation crops (PNPL)

VIII. PURCHASED OF FARM MULTIPURPOSE VEHICLE

1. Used to fetch and carry farm inputs

2. Used to transport farm products to market

IV. CATTLE PRODUCTION

1. Establishment of forage plantation .

2. Establishment of compartmentalized area (50x50 m/compartment) for grazing area in 1 hectare

3. Proper Care and Management. A standardized care and management of cattle by the Bureau of Animal Industry shall be followed.

EXPECTED DELIVERABLES FOR A YEAR:

1. ESTABLISHMENT OF THE FOLLOWING:

a. Free Range Native `chicken

b. Compartmentalized Grazing Areas for cows

c. Organic High Value Vegetables

2. Improved Management and Cultural Practices of crops and livestock

3. Increased Productivity of Existing Crops and livestock i.e. cattle and swine

4. Development of a 5 year Strategic Plan
