INTRODUCTION

Urgent need to enhance proper management which is crucial in agricultural crops and animal production in order to maximize productivity and profit with due consideration on a friendly environmental practices for a more sustainable production system.

Proper farm record keeping is also a vital part in a management to monitor the expenses and income of the farm .

This is a good practice that can be adopted which serves as basis in decision making for a more doable recommendations to further improve the farm practices and for expansion purposes

Project Objectives

OBJECTIVES

Generally, the project aims to develop a model agri-ecotourism farm on a gradual basis of Recoleto’s landholdings in Alfonso, Cavite for a five-year period. Specifically, in a one-year period, it aims to:

1. Enhance the productivity of the existing crops and livestock to maximize return on investments,

2. Promote proper work attitude and camaraderie among farm workers,

3. Prepare a strategic plan for the attainment of its long term goals to become more market-oriented with an environment friendly practices.

I. WEED CONTROL MANAGEMENT

  • Spraying herbicide e.g. glyphosate every quarter depending on the regrowth of weeds .

II. COFFEE AND CACAO PRODUCTION AND MANAGEMENT ACTIVITIES

  • Fertilizer costs and labor are the largest investment of the coffee farm

ACTIVITIES FOR NATIVE CHICKEN PRODUCTION

1. Procurement of 100 hens and 10 rooster for start up production

2. Procurement of feeds and other materials . AT the onset of the project, commercial feeds will be procured . this will be mixed with over matured /damaged fruit like papaya, banana and some leafy veggies on a gradual basis until such time that the chickens are adapted to the feed mixtures.

3. Meat and eggs intended for visitors and Recoletos management.

VI. ORGANIC VEGETABLES PRODUCTION

Activities for Organic Vegetables Production

1. Planting high value vegetables such as lettuce, cauliflower, raddish, tomatoes, eggplant, squash, string beans, bush sitao, etc.

4. Irrigation/Watering.

5. Harvesting.

6. Marketing.

5. Negotiation to Plant Now Pay Later program for plantation crops (PNPL)

3. Proper Care and Management. A standardized care and management of cattle by the Bureau of Animal Industry shall be followed.
