Ireland

Rubina Bottini

Departure

We left from Bergamo Orio al Serio airport early in the morning. After a flight of about two hours we landed in Dublin. Fortunately the weather was sunny and quite warm. I took my coach and I arrived in a village in County Wicklow where I met my host family who lives in Tinahely, about 80 km away from Dublin. The travel from Dublin airport lasted about one hour and a half by coach.

Departure

Coach

I realized that Irish means of transport are clean and always on time. In the couches there were also wifi services and plugs to charge every device.

Landscape

Looking out the windows I noticed immediately that the Irish landscape is really picturesque and the main colour you can see is smart green. There are long distances between the villages and the countryside is full of animals that walk around freely.

My place

My host family was very nice and friendly, there were five people in it: the parents and three children. They live in a horse racing centre and their house is comfortable and quite big.

Children

The children were 9, 11 and 12 years old. I used to play with them and to follow them in their riding activities.

Animals

In the riding centre there were a lot of pets: three dogs and some cats, they had also about seventy racing horses

My job

My task was to ride some of the horses and my favourite horse was called Diablo. It was a little plump but cute. I helped feeding the animals and washing them. I also cleaned the bridles and the saddles.

My job

Normal task

I usually worked six days a week for 6-8 hours, but it wasn’t hard for me because riding horses is my passion. I sometimes helped the family with their houseworks, I made beds and cooked for the children.

Job Experience

Job experience

Three or four times I went to some competition (racing or jumping) with my family because this is their business.

Dublin

During two of my days off I went to Dublin by coach. I visited most of it because the city center isn’t really large. I went to see Temple bar (a borough full of pubs and tourist attractions), Ha’f Penny Bridge, the library of the Trinity College and the statue of the fishmonger Molly Malone. Unfortunately I didn’t have time to see the famous Guinness Factory
