The age of planets

The age of planets

All of the planets are about the same age which is 4.6 billion years old. This information was indeed discovered by scientists. But how exactly do scientists get this extraordinary information? The wanted answer is that they study meteorites and other objects that successfully made their way past the Earth's atmosphere to the surface of our planet.

Asteroid belt

Asteroid belt

Asteroids are just clumps of a combination that contains clumps of gas, dust, and tiny bits of ice. A cool fact about asteroids is that, long ago in 1801, while making a star map, Italian astrnomer Giuseppe Piazzi discovered the first and largest asteroid who's name is Ceres. Also astrnomers indicate that the asteroid belt was created 4.6 billions of years ago.

The Materials That Make Up Planets

The Materials That Make Up Planets

These 2 sections separated by the asteroid belt, the rocky planets and the gas giants are made of different kinds of materials, which you can possibly tell by the names of the 2 categories. When the planets were forming those small particles gathered up and made the huge planets of our solar system. Also like the rocky planets, the gas giants have a rocky surface deep inside there outer layout.
