Owl Eyes

Owl Eyes got his nickname from wearing owl like glasses. Owl Eyes is heavy middle aged man who Nick meets at Gatsby's party, examining his books and stating that none of them have been read. Owl Eyes statement lets the readers know that most Gatsby's posessions are for display. While Owl Eye's does realize Gatsby's facade he still is one of the only people to attend Jays funeral.

Nick Carroway

"Unbiased" narrarator and salesman. Observant man, who shows neutrality but later in the book despises the people who he was hanging out with. After becoming acquainted with everyone except for Dan Cody and Michaelis, but in the end the only person he could call a friend was Gatsby. Nick was disgusted by everyone else especially Tom, Daisy, and his old love interest Jordan. Few exceptions were Pammy, the dog, or butlers. Basically everyone who wasn't rich he tolerated. All that is physically known about Nick is that he's young.

Buchanan's Butler

Before working for Tom and Daisy the butler was a silver polisher until it ruined his nose. This fact about the butler symbolises how toxic the wealthy can be.

Sloane's

Sloane's are out riding with Tom when Tom meets Gatsby. Mr. and Mrs. Sloane politely invite Gatsby to dinner which he accepts, causing the first problem between Tom and Gatsby. Tom is annoyed by Gatsby's socializing skills and his relationship with Daisy. The Sloane's are somewhat rude.

Tom Buchanan

Tom Buchanan is a racist, violent, and sexist man. Not only openly unfaithful to his wife but also is hypocritical when she starts having her own affair. Tom is friends with the Sloanes, and is "friends" with Nick and Jordan. Gatsby and Tom are enemies because Tom is married to Daisy. Tom is a buff man and uses his muscles to his advantage to intimidate people. Nick states that he Tom has "shining" eyes and is around 30.

Jordan Baker

Jordan is a golfer, but also cheats at golf games. Extremely selfish and careless. Jordan dated Nick until Nick broke it off because of the extent of Jordans selfishness. Friends with Daisy and Tom. Is also somewhat friends with Gatsy. Jordan is known for having a boyish thin body, with small breasts, and bobbed hair.

Meyer Wolfshiem

Meyer is a crook who fixed the World Series in 1919. Even though he's crooked he offered Gatsby a job and is the reason for Gatsby's wealth. Although Gatsby and Meyer were close, Meyer didn't attend Gatsby's funeral immune to Nick's ada,amance. Meyer is somewhat creepy wearing cufflinks with quesitonable material.

Ewing Klipslinger

Ewing was a regular at Gatsby's parties, so regular that he basically lived in Gatsbys home. Ewing is a selfish man in fact when Gatsby requests one thing from him which is to play the piano for Daisy. Ewing is hesitant and doesn't want to, but ultimately gives in. When Gatsby dies Ewing doesn't go to the funeral but instead is concerned for his tennis shoes at Gatsby's mansion.

Henry C. Gatz

Henry C. Gatz

Henry is Gatsbys father, who shows up at the end of the book. Henry is a poor man who is astonished by how succesful Gatsby became. His big thing was Gatsbys old schedule that he made. It's important to Henry because it shows that Gatsby always wanted to change himself. Henry shows up to symbolise Gatsbys roots. Henry is an older man who met Nick somewhat flushed and face showing no immense grief.

Jay Gatsby

War veteran, who was a self made millionare and got his from money from questionable means. Jay was a young man with tan skin and short hair. Jay dated Daisy until he left for War, when he returned , he discovered that Daisy married Tom. Jay soon became obsessed with her, and watched over her for years until Nick came along and helped him. Soon after Nick helped Jay, Gatsby had an affair. Until Tom ended the affair by accusing Jay of illegally becoming wealthy. After Daisy killed Myrtle he took the blame. This caused George Wilson to kill Gatsby. Gatsby loved Daisy and hated Tom, and was friends with Jordan and Nick. Gatsbys dad was Henry, but his mentor was Dan Cody. Gatsby was business partners with Meyer and was acquantances with Ewing, Owl Eyes, party goers, and Pammy.

George Wilson

George Wilson is one of the only good people. He works at a gas station and is clueless about Myrtle's affair. until later in the book causing him to try and move West. But when Myrtle dies George is stricken with grief but is also suspicious of almost everyone and whether they're his wife's love interest. George was friends with Michaelis and acquainted with Tom, Nick, and Catherine. Upon learning that Gatsby supposedly killed his wife, George kills Gatsby and then himself.

Michaelis

Michaelis is a coffee shop owner that visits George because he's worried about him. He overhears Myrtle and George fighting before her death. Even though Michaelis cares for George, George shows suspicion that Michaelis and Myrtle were having an affair. Michaelis is one of the geniune people in the Great Gatsby. Being friends with George and probably acquainted with Myrtle, he shows concern for George when he finds him looking sick.

Myrtle Wilson

Extreme gold digger extraordinaire, married to George but wants to be high class. Myrtle believes she married low class and sees herself as superior to her husband. Myrtle is desperately trying to get into the higher class, and has an affair with Tom but ultimately is killed by Tom's wife. Myrtle is sisters with Catherine and is Tom's mistress. Myrtle is acquainted with Nick, the dog Tom bought her and the Mckee's.

Catherine

Catherine is a thin woman red haired woman that wears heavy amounts of makeup. Catherine is Myrtle's sister and knows about Tom's and Myrtles affair but doesn't say anything. She is fine with lying about Toms affair with her sister to the police. Catherine is acquaintances with Nick and Tom. Her neighbors are the Mckees.

Mckee's

Mr. and Mrs. Mckee are Catherine's neighbors and are at a house party. Mr. Mckee is extremely feminine and Mrs. Mckee is shown as shrill. When things got tense after Tom broke Myrtle's nose, Mr.Mckee and Nick went home together.

Dog

While Nick, Myrtle, and Tom are out on the town Myrtle spots a dog. Tom ends up buying the dog for her, it symbolises that he does care for her in some way.

Pammy

Child of Daisy and Tom, has a nanny. Pammy also shows that Daisy's with Tom and not Gatsby.

Pammy

Daisy Buchanan

Daisy is a housewife, and is unfaithful, and indecisive. Daisy drunkenly killed Myrtle, and let Gatsby take the blame. not only that, but Daisy and Gatsby had an affair. She almost left Tom until, Tom accused Gatsby of getting his money unethically. Daisy is known for her attractive voice and is known for being wanted by men. Daisy is friends with Jordan, and is cousins with Nick.

Party Goer's

Party Goer's are the many people at Gatsby's party that are creating rumors about him. They reperesent the upper class and how they were just using him to party and didn't even attend his funeral.

Gatsby's Butler

Gatsby's butler delivered the message of Gatsby's death. Gatsby's Butler is obviously acquainted with Gatsby and Nick.

Dan Cody

Dan is Gatsby's mentor and helps him become who he was. When Dan died he tried to leave his money to Gatsby but his mistress stepped in and took the money instead.
