Tropical Rainforest

By- Sarah Sharma

What is it?

The tropical rainforest is one of the world’s most threatened biomes, despite being home to some of the most diverse and unique species on the planet. Many of the world’s most colorful creatures reside in rainforests, and animals from tiny organisms to large wild cats find homes amongst the range of plant life.

Fun Fact!

Rainforests only cover around 2 percent the total surface area of the Earth, but really about 50 percent of the plants and animals on the earth live in the rainforest.

Interdependence

Interdependence

There is negative and positive of-

Between 2 species:

its negative since the two species are different they might be having a conflict for food and shelter, as also known by the food chain.

Between 1 Specie:

its usually positive as they are the same they might hunt for eachother and help for shelter.

History

History

Tropical rainforests are famous for their great diversity. Many hypotheses have been proposed to explain the profusion of species, but most are difficult to test because tropical rainforests have a very poor fossil record. Rock exposures are rare in areas that are still mostly covered by forest.

Where is it?

Tropical rainforests are located near the equator. Fifty seven percent of all tropical rainforests are found in Latin America. One third of the world's tropical rainforests are in Brazil. Other tropical rainforests are located in Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands (25% of the world's tropical rainforests) and West Africa (18%).

How to prevent them?:

Reduce: Try not to use plastic bottles and other plastics.

Reuse: Try instead of using high grade paper some Recycled paper.

Recycle: Recycling is a good way to reduce and reuse our resources. There are companies that will pick up recyclables at your doorstep and places where you can drop off your recyclables.

Plant a tree: Although reduce, reuse, and recycle will help prevent the destruction of land, planting a tree will help replenish new places for creatures to live. This is a good way to protect the animals that live in your neck of the woods from dwindling.
