Permission to Dance By BTS

This song shows that you should do what you want to do as you do not need permission for everything. BTS shows an example that when you hear music or are at a party, you can dance and have fun. You don’t have to ask for permission to dance. They also say “there’s nothing” that can “stop how we move.” This line means that nothing can stop you when you're set on doing something. You can always do it if you try or use your willpower to reach it.

Connecting Your Story with Art & Literature

1

I connect with Jasmine from the Disney movie because she is a fearless princess who is not scared of becoming a leader. I have the same personality type as she has since she is also an enneagram 8. In addition, she fears no one and is courageous. We share many of the same characteristics. She knows that she must be strong to be a leader. She has been preparing for that job her whole life.

I also connect with the anime character Katsuki Bakugo from My Hero Academia because he shows leadership, bravery, and many other strong qualities. He is afraid of no one. Even when he faces the biggest villain, he doesn’t even bat an eye. He knows that he is powerful and owns it. He is determined and incredibly willful. He can be very confrontational and can intimidate anyone in a blink of an eye. He has a goal to be the Number 1 hero in a world where being a hero to protect civilians from the many threats and villains is a job that earns you money. He lets nothing get in his way to achieve his goal. He works hard towards it. The other characters in the series believe he is a mean person and they call him a jerk. Soon, they realize that inside, he is very protective and soft. He and I connect in several ways. All of those qualities describe me just as well as they do for him.

Lastly, I connect with Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games because no matter how hard it is to survive, she manages to stay alive. Though she is sad when Rue dies, she decides to win for Rue, Gale, Prim, her mother, Peeta, and herself. Her loss has made her nothing but stronger and fiercer. She shows most of her type 8 personality in the first book when the most action happens. She knows she can’t be too empathic or the Capitol will hurt her, so she shows her hard exterior. She puts up walls so that she doesn’t show that she is sad or hurt inside. Like me, she is self-confident, decisive, confrontational, and willful.

Theme

Theme

The theme within my project is to be kind as you might regret it later. If you aren’t kind, no matter what you do or say to fix that, you can never mend your original words. Because of this, people say you should think before you speak or do. Their advice is 100% right as if you don’t, you'll end up saying something you don’t mean.

“Ping.” the sharp sound rang in my ears.

I had done it. It appeared in my Sent.

Earlier…

As I move my paintbrush synchronized to my humming, I am suddenly interrupted by the sharp sound of an email being delivered to me. I carefully wash my blue paintbrush in the cup of already murky water and wipe it with the spotted paper towel. I get up, off of the ground and make my way over to my iPad. I open it up and look at the email. It’s from Nivi: the girl who was my best friend’s “friend.” I scrunch my nose. I don’t like her. But I decide to read the email anyway. She starts nicely. ”Hi Anika,” but then she gets ruder and meaner. I can feel my anger rising as I continue to read the email. I immediately confront her. I email her with an equally rude remark and respond about how she has false facts and that she is wrong. Then, I block her.

Several months later, I learn why I reacted like that. My enneagram type is 8: the protective challenger. The qualities of type 8 are being self-confident, decisive, willful, and confrontational. I immediately connect with the “confrontational” quality as I think back to that day months ago. Then, I think about the first week of school when I saw her. My anger was still bubbling and we argued a lot that day. I regret emailing her back due to the words I had used. I should have just blocked her. I sigh in resignation. I've been doing that a lot lately. Finding out I’m an enneagram type 8 has really helped me figure out how to react and how not to react.
