B2 First is an English language examination provided by Cambridge Assessment English.
It shows that learners have the language skills needed to communicate confidently in an English-speaking environment
Why did I chose to attend the course?
Why?
- it proves that you can understand and speak english fluently.
- I have always found English an interesting language;
- a new language allows us to communicate with people with different cultures and hence to live in a new country;
since comunication is the foundation of work.
After passing the exam you should be able to:
Skills
- communicate effectively face-to-face, expressing opinions and presenting arguments;
- write clear, detailed English, expressing opinions and explaining the advantages and disadvantages of different points of view;
- write letters, reports, stories and lots of other types of text.
The exam is made up of 4 papers:
Exam format
- Tests your use of English with tasks that show how well you can control your grammar and vocabulary;
- Requires you to be able to produce two different pieces of writing;
- Requires you to be able to follow and understand a range of spoken materials;
- Tests your ability to communicate effectively in face to face situations;
- reading and use of english: (1 hour 15 minutes) you are asked to answer different multiple-choice questions and to fill the gaps in a text with and without the aid of prompts;
- writing: (1 hour 20 minutes): you are asked to produce 2 different pieces of production. One is compulsory, while the other is from the choice of four;
- listening: (about 40 minutes)
you are asked to cross the correct
answer or to fill up the gaps
related to the recording listened;
- speaking: (14 minutes per pair of candidates) you and another candidate will be asked to describe two images, then you will be asked to discuss with eachother about the topic given.
