Purpose

Come together as a team

PURPOSE

Get a robot to stack cups in a specific design

Designing of precise instructions/algorithm

If problems arise in the code, recognize bugs & build solutions

  • use only pre-defined symbol key
  • no use of verbal commands
  • connection between symbols and actions

My Robotic Friends Activity- Video

TITLE

Instructions

INSTRUCTIONS

  • 1 student- robot/team
  • Other students- programmer; help design code
  • Programmer- creates the code or translate the algorithm to symbols to build the selected stack
  • Robot- will stack cups in a specific design
  • Debug as a team

ROBOTICS

Robotics???

  • Seen
  • Touched
  • Does a robot hear you speak?
  • Does it understand what you say?

Wrap Up

1. During the activity what was difficult being a robot?

2. Did you find a bug? What was it and why didn't you notice it when writing the program?

3. Why is it important that the robot should have precise instructions to be able to stack cups in a specific design?

Discuss

Most difficult part of coming up with the instructions (coding)

Did anyone find a bug? What was the bug?

Why do you think you did not notice it when writing the program?

When you were the robot, hardest part of following instructions?

RULES

Rules:

Coders should translate all moves using only the 6 arrows

Cups remain with the robot, not provided to programmers during coding.

Once the coding is complete, the robot tries to stack using the symbols, without talking out loud.
