Values & Beliefs

Values/Beliefs

My top three instrument values on the Rokeach Values Survey (CYC_100) are loving, honesty, and capable. When interacting with clients, colleagues or friends, and family, I carry these values in my verbal and non-verbal communication. When speaking with others, I hold love in my heart and come from a loving space so that they know they are safe. I am honest in a loving way; the more we know about ourselves, the easier it can become to connect with our authentic selves. I want others to feel I am capable of helping them to achieve what they want. These values tie in with my beliefs that people have the answers they need inside themselves and that I can help teach them the tools to find those answers from within. As they find their answers, they become more clear on what they want to achieve and have a more solid base within themselves to support the actions to achieve their goals.

CYCAA

Code of Ethics

CYCAA

Code of Ethics

The CYCAA Code of Ethics is an extensive list of standards and guidelines that CYC practitioners are expected to adhere to. Several different codes in the Code of Ethics stood out to me the first being: "I. Responsibility to Self"

"C. 2. Aware of self - As a growing learning"

This code reminds me that we are all growing and learning all the time, not only ourselves but those we work with, colleagues and clients. As a CYC practitioner it is our responsibility to bring that awareness to those we work with, we are not born with the knowledge, we all need to lean skills to help us in life and our profession. It is a great reminder for us to be gentle and kind with ourselves as we are learning new things.

The second code that stands out to me is:

II. Responsibility to the Client

3. Maintain confidentially

I think this is a very important for the client to know, it reaffirms for the person you are working with that they can trust you and that the space you create with them is safe space in which they can share and be vulnerable.
