-Okonkwo becomes the first man to defeat Amalinze (the cat) at wrestling match

-Okonkwo becomes a respected warrior

  • Obierika visits Okonkwo and explains how a white man (missionary) came into their village and the people of Abame killed the white men because the Oracle commanded them to
  • More missionaries came afterward and completely wiped out Abame's people who were at a market
  • The seven years of exile comes to end and Okonkw begins to pack up his belongings
  • He also plans a feast for everyone with his family helping out
  • The elders in his motherland disclaim that the new set religion the missionaries are spreading is "abominable" and curses their ancestors and gods
  • Ezinma fell ill, leaving Ekwefi to become anxious that her only daughter may die, like her other children
  • Ekwefi was accused of having ogbanje children, which were children who kept dying and being born again
  • Okonkwo helped mend to Ezinma back to health because he valued her the most
  • Ezeudu's funeral took place and Umuofia mourned his loss
