Problem Statement

Everyone knows, social media has made its way into the back pocket of pretty much everyone that was in school in the 20th century. However, just because it has become so popular, does not mean that it is only doing good for the world.

Its Negative Impacts

The most common mental health issue that has been connected to social media is anxiety and depression. Competition has played a massive part into this because of the constant comparison to others.

Social media platforms have also been extremely well known for stealing data. You can always delete something off the internet to the public. However, the platforms data bases will always have your information and some have been known to sell it to the government or third party companies.

Social media also gives a massive platform to cyberbullying, which 36 percent of students say they experience.

A Possible Solution

There are only so many things you can do when it comes to stopping social media use. The most effective is complete abstinence from it. However, you can always set screen times to keep you on track from using it too much. Remember to do research on the platforms you put your information into!
