History
Native people lived in the USA for a long time.
In the 17th centuries European settlers moved there and took the place of native people.
The settlers fought for their independence from Britain.
The nation continued to expand and it has become a global power.

The three causes of imperialism were:
-the economic progress
-the nationalism
-the opinion that white people should dominate
Colonialism means grow a land where you live.
Starting form the end of 19th century colonialism became a competition between the countries, this is called imperialism.
The most powerful country in Europe was England and in the world were the USA.

England colonized from Egypt to South Africa and France was interested in territories from Gambia to Egypt.
In 1876 Queen Victoria became also queen of India and it was turned into an English marker. In this way indian farmers were forced to leave traditional Indian crops.

English were also interested in Chinese market. They started to bought their goods in change of opium that was bad for the health and for that reasons there has been a war between china and England and England won it.

The USA took control over Cuba. Americans wanted to separate Panama from Colombia because it was important for their economy.
France has begun to work on the canal but they had to stop so the USA took over the project and they finished it ten years later

The United States of America is bordered on the west by the Pacific Ocean, to the east by the Atlantic Ocean, to the north by Canada and to the south by Mexico.
The highest mountains are the Rocky Mountains that are in the west of the country and the principal river is Mississipi River.

The flag of the USA is composed by stars and stripes. There are fifty stars that represent the present states of the country and there thirteen stripes that represent the original countries of the USA.

New York City is one of America's oldest cities. Dutch settlers paid $24 dollars for New York in 1626.The Dutch called the town New Amsterdam. In 1664 the English changed the name to New York.
