"Thinking about them is a first step in breaking out of these irrational thought patterns." (9.2 Living with Diversity)
“We will all profit from a more diverse, inclusive society, understanding, accommodating, even celebrating our differences, while pulling together for the common good.”
–Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Diversity can lead to more creative and effective problem solving, as individuals from different backgrounds can bring unique insights and experiences to the table. By working together, diverse teams can often arrive at more innovative solutions to complex problems.
Interacting with people from different backgrounds, you can develop a greater awareness and understanding of different cultures, customs, and traditions. This can help you become culturally proficient and better equipped to navigate multicultural environments.
Social
Interacting with people from diverse backgrounds can help you develop stronger social skills, including communication, empathy, and conflict resolution skills. MPTC offers many resources but a couple that stand out are the Student Diversity Leadership Club and Virtual Cultural Connections website.
